Christian Faith Eagles
Head Coach: Rich Lusink
2014 Record: 8-8-0
Position Rankings: Offense – 12th (State) – 2nd (League) – 11th (State) – 3rd (League)
Christian Faith made great strides last season, as they were within a game of qualifying for the Tri-District Tournament. Inconsistent play hurt them on offense, when they were frequently held to under 2 goals, but then could explode for three or four the next game.
Losing key seniors like CJ Cabiles will make improvement difficult for CF in 2015. The Eagles ball control will be strong enough to play with the SeaTac League opponents and they will be tough to beat at home. That will keep playoff hopes in the picture, but the coaching staff will need to have young players ready right from the start.
Rainier Christian Mustangs
Rainier Christian has been making progress as a young program under Coach Geoff Ellis. The Mustangs only won a couple of games in 2014 but competitive performance in many matches means an additional year of experience may equate to more victories. Repeating the success with the loss of some key exchange students may be tricky. The Mustangs have a reasonable opportunity to compete for the East Division Championship and earn a playoff trip in the process, marking a very successful season.
Shorewood Christian Lions
Shorewood Christian failed to earn a win in 2014. They return players with playoff experience in basketball and expectations should be appropriately weighted. How less experienced players are brought in will be key. Also, questions abound over whether a consistent goalscorer will emerge. Overall, the Lions have a challenge in front of them. Several players will need to step up and make big strides for this young program. But they have demonstrated their capability in basketball.
